COLLEYVILLE An event hosted by the Colleyville Ministerial Alliance is aimed at bringing the community together after the Jan. 15 attack at Congregation Beth Israel. According to the city’s Jan. 28 newsletter, a subcommittee of the CMA met during the week of Jan. 24 to discuss holding an event for the community. The group decided to create the Colleyville Strong: A Cele- bration of Faith & Community event following the discussion and input from different places of worship. The event will be held Feb. 21 at the Colleyville Center, 5301 Riv- erwalk Drive. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. with the event beginning at 7 p.m. The event will include speak- ers and musical selections, along with a dessert fellowship at 8 p.m. The event comes after four people were taken hostage at Congregation Beth Israel by British citizen Malik

CARROLL ISD The board of trustees unanimously approved six new high school courses for the upcoming school year. Each year, district leaders, counselors and teachers consider the course catalog and recommend courses to add or remove for the next school year, according to district documents as part of the Jan. 24 board meeting. Four of the six new classes being offered are part of the district’s Career and Technical Education program. The courses are: introduction to culinary arts; practicum of manufacturing (Robotics: Level 4); business law (Business, Marketing and Finance: Level 2); introduc- tion to welding; sports medicine 3; and AP Capstone research seminar.
