49 GCISD Students Earned National Merit Commended Designations, 25 Received College Board Academic Honors, 17 Named National Merit Semifinalists Over the past 12 years, GCISD has celebrated the recognition of more than 200 National Merit Semifinalists. Cross Timbers Middle School Student Received Martin D. Jenkins Scholar Award This is the third consecutive year a GCISD student has earned this prestigious national award from the National Association for Gifted Children. Cannon Elementary Students Placed Second, Advanced to Regionals in Robotics Competition A second team from Cannon Elementary also finished in eighth place. Even more impressive is that Cannon’s teams were the only two teams from elementary schools participating in the competition. (Pictured to the right.) 11 GCISD Students Named to All-State Music Ensembles Students who are named to the Texas All-State Ensembles are among the best student musicians in Texas. Bransford Elementary Orff Ensemble Selected to Perform at 2023 TMEA Convention This selection to perform at the Texas Music Educators Association Clinic and Convention distinguishes the BES Orff Ensemble as one of the top elementary music ensembles in Texas. Grapevine High School Head Football Coach Named The Landry Award Coach of the Year The distinction honored Mike Alexander for exemplifying Christian values that defined Cowboys Coach Tom Landry. This is the second consecutive year a GCISD coach has been selected. In 2021, CHHS Head Football Coach Kirk Martin received the honor. Grapevine and Colleyville Heritage Athletics Teams Won State Championships The Grapevine High School boys cross country team and the Colleyville Heritage High School volleyball team brought home the gold during the fall of 2022. Continued Excellence in Academics, Arts, and Athletics

Heritage high schools finished in the top 20 in the state for the 2022 Lone Star Cup. The 2023-2024 budget planning process is underway. The Board of Trustees received a mid- year report on the 2022-2023 budget that projects a savings of $1,589,388 in expenditures over actual expenditures in the 2021-2022 fiscal year. This savings takes into account the salary market increases for teachers, along with staff salary increases, totaling $2,518,599.
