A higher-end arrangement features hydrangeas, dahlias and stock.

FLOWER CARE Misty Fagile sends customers home with instructions for how to keep owers healthy for as long as possible. Some of her top tips include:

The right environment: The ideal location for owers is relatively cool and not in direct sunlight. Regular care: Replacing water and trimming stems ensures owers continue taking in water. Proper nutrition: “Flower food” mixtures can help extend owers’ lifespans.

Hutto Flower Market Local shop seeks to become a downtown staple through relocation M isty and Shawn Faglie opened Hutto Flower Market in 2019. With business’ bread and butter, Misty said the larger, more centrally

Hutto Flower Market A: 6020 FM 1660, Ste. D, Hutto B: 117 East St., Ste. 100, Hutto 512-846-4151 https://huttoowermarket.com Hours: Mon.-Fri. 9 a.m.-5:30 p.m., Sat. 10 a.m.-2 p.m., closed Sun.

Shawn said he and Misty plan to keep the FM 1660 location open for at least some time before deciding to either close it or operate both stores. Hutto Flower Market oers owers and arrangements both for everyday use and for special occasions. Through a close relationship with their wholesaler, Misty and Shawn hand-select every ower that goes to the store. To ensure the owers are fresh, they do so on a near-daily basis, Misty said. “Our customers know that whenever they come in to pick up owers, they’re fresh,” she said. “We buy in smaller quantities. That way we can restock often.” While owers will remain the

located shop downtown will allow Hutto Flower Market to branch out. The new location will include a boutique section with clothing and home decor, which Misty said will help to make the store more of a destination in downtown Hutto. “We’ll have clothing, shoes … kind of a one-stop shop,” Misty said. Misty said she is excited to form relationships with more customers in the new, more centralized down- town location. “We’re there for every aspect of everybody’s lives, from births to deaths to everything in between,” Misty said. “You get close to people, and they kind of become friends that become family.”

Misty’s years of experience as a orist and Shawn’s as a business owner, the two said they had every- thing they needed to set up shop. However, a few months into operating at their current shop on FM 1660, Misty and Shawn found they needed more space. Because of that, Misty said they plan to open a second location by mid-August in downtown Hutto that is about 500 square feet larger than the original store. “We recongured our current shop over and over and over, trying to make that space work—which it has worked well for almost three years,” Misty said.
