Pflugerville - Hutto Edition | August 2023

DINING FEATURE The Downtown Hall of Fame Hutto bar and grill has something for everyone I t’s dicult to pin down exactly how to catego- rize Hutto’s The Downtown Hall of Fame. At least, that’s what owners Judi and Sean Smith said. The Downtown Hall of Fame has expanded ve times since it opened in December 2011 and now boasts a number of dierent dining and entertain- ment options. All told, the business oers live music, billiards, karaoke, cornhole, an outdoor patio, sports on several televisions, three bars and a full food menu centered on what they call “craft burgers.” From the Fried Mac & Cheese Burger to the Habanero Bacon Cheeseburger, Sean said each has an element unique to the restaurant. “We take a lot of pride in our food from buttering our bread to locally sourcing our meat,” he said. “You’re getting fresh food every time.” Judi also mentioned the extensive alcohol menu with several beers and signature cocktails, including the rum-based Dizzy Hippo. Judi and Sean both have a background in restau- rant management, and shortly after they moved to Hutto from Round Rock in 2009, they decided they wanted to be their own bosses. In addition to events including a monthly open mic night and karaoke every Saturday, the Hall of Fame hosts established musicians weekly. Though the Smiths are proud of each element of The Downtown Hall of Fame, from live music and games to sports on television, they return to the menu to explain their continued success. “Since we’ve brought in craft burgers, we’ve just got so many people coming and going. There’s a lot of familiar faces, but it’s not just the same people every day anymore,” Sean said. BY BRIAN RASH

BURGER AND A BEER The Downtown Hall of Fame owners Judi and Sean Smith have created an extensive menu centered on their signature hamburgers. Below are two of their favorite burgers with beers they recommend to pair with them.

HABANERO BACON CHEESEBURGER WITH ALTSTADT KOLSCH Burger: American cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, bacon, habanero, avocado, ranch and Rock & Roll Sauce, $16 Beer: a light, golden beer with German hops, $5.75 for a pint Why: Altstadt has a clean nish, so it doesn’t stay on the palette long and cools down the habanero.

The bar and grill has three full bars.
