The Houston-based fast-casual pizza brand is set to open one location in Katy and one in Richmond, according to a Jan. 5 announcement. The Katy restaurant will open at 22723 Morton Ranch Road, while the Richmond location is still in the works, according to the announcement. The Katy location will open in a new fast-casual footprint in a 2,200-square-foot space with an open kitchen design, a large outdoor patio and restaurant capacity near 120 guests. In addition to its typical offerings, the restaurant will offer new menu items, including truffle garlic knots, prosciutto burrata pizza, truffle mushroom pizza, truffle burrata gnocchi and bruschetta, served alongside craft beer and Italian wines. www.russosfranchise.com Rustika Cafe and Bakery is expected to open a location in Katy sometime in May. The bakery did not have an exact address as of press time. There are four other locations in the Greater Houston area, including in Houston, Sugar Land, League City and Friendswood. The cafe serves items such as cakes, crepes, pancakes, French toast, omelets, pies and empana- das. No phone number was available as of press time. www.rustikacafe.com EXPANSIONS 9 The Cane Island Community in Katy has expanded its lineup of homebuilders to include Chesmar Homes, a Texas based

homebuilder. A Dec. 15 news release from Cane Island states Chesmar will be build- ing new homes in the gated community. Along with the new homes being built, a new elementary school will also serve Katy ISD, as previously reported by Com- munity Impact Newspaper . The communi- ty is located west of Grand Parkway and north of I-10. 281-800-5360. www.caneisland.com ANNIVERSARIES 10 Seismique , a technology-fueled experiential art museum in Houston, cel- ebrated its first anniversary Dec. 26. The museum opened last year at 2306 S. Hwy. 6, Houston. Seismique is an interactive ex- perience filled with immersive exhibits and displays designed to entertain and inspire guests. The museum features 40,000 square feet of art and is described as the “art experience of tomorrow.” Seismique creator Steve Kopelman said he wants Seismique to serve as a “pandemic pan- acea”—a place where visitors can transport themselves to another realm and find creative inspiration through the artistic manifestation of 40 exhibits. 346-202-6006. www.seismique.com 11 August & Ivy will celebrate its one-year-anniversary Feb. 2. On Jan. 10, the Katy Prairie Conservancy announced the

preservation of an additional 965 acres of land, adding onto 30,127 acres of land the organization has already conserved. Ocials with the nonprot land trust said these acres of land will be protected from future commercial development. The new 965-acre preservation is split into two dierent areas. There are 159.82 acres located in Waller County containing 90 acres of agricultural wetlands adjacent to other protected lands. The remaining 804.5 acres are a donated conservation easement located in Matagorda County. The acquisition will eventually serve as a place for educational programming, research and recreation, according to the release. “There is an urgent need to conserve land in the Greater Houston area, as growth is consuming the coastal prairie, 12 Balanced Foods celebrated its one-year anniversary Jan. 17, located at 7109 Katy-Gaston Road, Ste. 600, Katy.
