Robichau’s celebrates 40 years as a family legacy
After working 12-hour days in a jewelry store while supporting his kids, Jack Robichau decided his time and labor would be better spent investing on his own business and family legacy. Starting with 12 pieces of jewelry, Jack Robichau founded his own jewelry store, Robichau’s Jewelry, alongside his wife, Lynda, in 1986. “My earliest memories of my dad was that he would work 12-hour days, six days a week, and then he slept on Sundays,” his son John Robichau said. “So towards the end of 1985 he decided, if I’m going to work this long and this hard, I’m going to do it for myself.” Years later, Robichau’s Jewelry remains a family legacy operated by Jack Robichau’s children, John, Matt and Jason Robichau. How it happened After months of unsuccessfully trying to secure a loan from the bank, Jack and Lynda turned to their family for support, John Robichau said. With that support, John Robichau said the Robichaus were able to open their own jewelry store. Formerly located in Sawdust Road and Glen Loch Drive, Robichau’s Jewelry relocated to Panther Creek in 2007, at a location with more trac and three times the rent of the former location, John Robichau said. Though the Robichaus initially hesitated to relocate, John Robichau said after the move the
jewelry shop made more within three months than it had in a year at the former location. In 2014, Jack and Lynda Robichau passed the jewelry store down to their sons, John, Matt, and Jason. Although John Robichau said growing up as a kid his parents had him work at the shop as a form of discipline, today he said he is fascinated by diamonds and custom jewelry design as well as the meaningful touch jewelry has for generations of families. “The great thing about this industry is it’s an industry based on trust, and jewelry is passed down through generations,” John Robichau said. What’s special about it Specializing in custom jewelry, as a full- service jewelry store Robichau’s Jewelry oers repair work, appraisals and cleaning services. In addition, John Robichau said the jewelry store launched its own jewelry line last year. Oering modern and classic designs, John Robichau said Robichau customers can nd timeless pieces that can be worn for any occasion. “The great thing with jewelry is there’s not a right or wrong way to wear it. You can mix and match anything you want, however you want to express yourself,” John Robichau said. To celebrate its 40th anniversary, John Robichau said the jewelry store is oering specials through the end of April.
