HISD’s 2nd high school named Creekside A committee of Hutto ISD students and community members presented the name for the district’s second high school in May: Creekside High School The details The name is a nod to the city’s history, student presenters said, as well as the land- scape and agricultural history of the area. The district stated that the mascot for the new school will remain the hippo.

Pflugerville ISD to close four elementary schools after 2026-27 school year The Pflugerville ISD board of trustees voted May 14 to close four elementary schools after the 2026- 27 school year: Dessau, Parmer Lane, Pflugerville and Windermere. The decision comes after months of considering options to address PfISD’s projected multimillion dollar budget shortfalls over the next several years. Further optimization actions could be taken at a later date. Some context District officials began a district optimization process with Civic Solutions Group last fall to review enrollment trends, campus utilization, financial projections and other long-range plan- ning considerations. PfISD will need to make $3 million-$5 million in cuts in fiscal year 2026-27, $16 million-$18 million

Looking ahead The board will hold a future debrief meeting for the public presentation of a student transition and impact analysis—including transportation, demographic program access, and campus impacts—prior to the campus closures.
