To apply for the tuition-free program, students will submit an application and go through an interview. If more than 125 stu- dents apply, a weighted lottery will select students for the program.

Leander ISD’s early college high school program is expected to start in the 2022-23 school year with an inaugural class of about 125 ninth grade students. District and Austin Community College ocials discussed the program with LISD board members Dec. 16. The board will consider approval of a provisional designa- tion application for the program at

Elementary school set to open inAugust

Leander ISD’s 29th elementary school will open in Leander for the 2022-23 school year. A community-led naming commit- tee presented the LISD trustees with two name recommendations: Carol North and Bryson Hills. The school board may approve the school’s nal name Jan. 13. The school is under construction at 1840 Pleasant Hill Road, Leander. Lara Labbé-Maginel will be the school’s rst principal.
