Georgetown Palace Theatre unveils 12 shows for 2025 season

• “In the Heights,” Oct. 3-Nov. 2 • “Dashing Through the Snow,” Nov. 28-Dec. 30 The inspiration “The biggest thing that I’ve been trying to get the Palace to do is really have our season be balanced,” Watson said. “In the Heights,” is one example of a few shows throughout the upcoming season that will feature a multicultural story, Watson said. Directed by Felipe Garcia, the musical requires a majority Latinx cast, Watson said. “You need actors to tell those stories,” Watson said. “You need actors that are from underserved populations and underrepresented populations in theater. ... Our vision at the Palace is to be the cultural destination for everyone.” Watson said he hopes the audience is “not just singing the tunes, but they’re also thinking about the message that the playwright tried to deliver.”

The nearly 100-year-old Georgetown Palace Theatre announced its 2025 season, with 12 shows planned for next year. The big picture Executive Artistic Director Ron Watson, who has been with the theater since the early 2000s, said he used public and sta input when choosing the programing for the upcoming season. The 10 shows announced so far for 2025 include: • “The Secret Garden,” Jan. 31-March 2 • “Fences,” Feb. 14-March 16

• “A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum,” March 21-April 20 • “Our Lady of the Tortilla,” May 2-June 1 • “Fiddler on the Roof,” May 30-July 6 • “Proof,” June 20-July 20

• “Beautiful,” July 25-Aug. 31 • “Stop Kiss,” Aug. 8-Sept. 7

Previous performances at the Georgetown Palace Theatre include “Disaster! The Musical.”
