Lake Travis - Westlake Edition | August 2022

Managing the Highland Lakes Central Texas water reservoirs are working as intended

• The state-approved Water Management Plan is working as designed. The plan enables LCRA to curtail interruptible water primarily for agricultural customers as needed to ensure sufficient water for firm customers like cities and businesses. The plan includes provisions that would trigger updates before the next scheduled revision process set for 2025. We have not met those triggers.

• Droughts and floods are common occurrences in Central Texas. Lakes Buchanan and Travis are water supply reservoirs built to capture water during wet times for use during dry times like these. • While this drought is concerning, our water situation, and specifically our drinking water supply, is in good shape.
