Centerpoint Energy presents recovery plan CenterPoint Energy has begun a recovery plan for its customers impacted by the May 16 derecho, which will cost customers about an additional $1 per month for the next 15 years, according to a Nov. 8 news release. The May 16 derecho caused more than an estimated $5 billion in damages across the Greater Houston area, as previously reported by Commu- nity Impact . Changes announced for toll road collections The Texas Department of Transportation announced in a Nov. 8 news release that the Harris County Toll Road Authority will take over management of the billing and customer services operations for all toll roads in the Houston and Austin regions. What you need to know On Nov. 6, TxDOT o›cials approved a new toll services agreement with the HCTRA to manage toll collections for the Houston and Austin areas, ending the longstanding TxTag service provided through the state for those areas. All TxTag accounts were expected to be switched to EZ Tag accounts as of Dec. 2, accord- ing to TxDOT. EZ Tags are used by the HCTRA for collections, and anyone who does not have an existing TxTag in good standing will have to register to get an EZ Tag through the HCTRA.
