Less than a year into owning the storefront, Ferreira is expanding. A second location is opening in Tomball this January, and she is also helping open additional stores in Florida and Arkansas while planning for addi- tional Houston-area shops as well. Half Baked also gives back to the Cy-Fair community by sponsoring local sports teams and partnering with organizations such as Cypress Lucky Mutt Rescue to donate a portion of sales during special events. Ferreira said her greatest joy in run- ning the business is her customers. “When I did get COVID[-19], my customers had food dropped o at my house every single day for two weeks,” she said. “I love my customers.”

The shop is located in the back of a strip center, which Ferreira admits is a bit unconventional. “We do a lot of pickup. I wasn’t expecting that, which is why I chose this location. People ask me all the time, ‘Why are you here?’” she said. “Well, I was a delivery business, and I really wasn’t expecting all these people would want to come in.” Ferreira said she and her sta bake thousands of cookies daily, and she develops the recipes herself. Popular cookies include chocolate chip, double chocolate, oatmeal chocolate chip, creme brulee, sugar and peanut butter supreme. The menu also fea- tures a “cookie of the week” rotation, gift boxes and cookie cakes. Bakers arrive as early as 8 a.m. to start making fresh dough and shipping orders across the country

If you eat everything in moderation, you can really eat anything in moderation,” she said. “But when I [started my business], I wanted a cookie for every diet.” In addition to classic options, Half Baked also makes cookies catered to gluten-free, keto and paleo diets. Ferreira said she has always loved baking fresh cookies for her friends and family every Sunday. She got the idea to launch her own cookie delivery business when visiting her kids at college, who enjoyed late- night cookies. She baked and delivered fresh,
