AISD selects name, zoning for new school On the heels of naming its fourth elementary Jane Ruestmann Elementary School, Argyle ISD board members approved staff’s zoning recom- mendation Dec. 18. The details The new school is only one of the factors that required the board to rezone boundaries. Other factors contributing to the need for rezoning include increased enrollment numbers for existing and future developments; minimizing the impact to currently enrolled students; and aligning with the long-term boundary and facility plans. According to district documents, 331 students are scheduled to be rezoned from West Elemen- tary to Ruestmann Elementary. A closer look District documents state two exemptions for
LISD approves next academic calendar Lewisville ISD board members approved the 2024-25 academic calendar Dec. 11, making next year’s start and end dates Aug. 13 and May 23, respectively. LISD staff and parents provided input, Chief of Staff Shawna Miller said. What happened In the chosen option, the 2024 Thanksgiv- ing break will be from Nov. 25-29 followed by winter break from Dec. 23-Jan. 3 with an early release day on Dec. 20 and a teacher work day Jan. 6. In the 2025 semester, stu- dents have spring break from March 10-14. Additionally, dates categorized as holidays and professional learning/student holidays for the 2024-25 school year include Sept. 2; Oct. 11 and 14; Nov. 5; Jan. 20, 2025; Feb. 14 and 17, 2025; and April 18, 2025.

With the first, students in homes east of I-35 and north of Old Justin Road would be allowed to go to Ruestmann Elementary or select a one-time option to remain at Hilltop Elementary until a new rezone happens or the family vacates the property. The second option allows students who live in houses immediately across the street from West Elementary to attend Ruestmann Elementary or remain at West.
