Freedom Hall breaks ground in Conroe The Montgomery County Veterans Memorial Commission on Nov. 11 broke ground on Freedom Hall at 1176 Freedom Blvd., Conroe. In a nutshell Freedom Hall will be an education and visitor center, museum, meeting hall and conference center, MCVMC Executive Direc- tor Elizabeth Woods said. The estimated completion date is summer 2024.

San Jacinto River Authority names new general manager The San Jacinto River Authority named Aubrey Spear as its new general manager Nov. 15. He will assume the role in January. The SJRA monitors water quality in the San Jacinto River Basin, provides water to municipal utility districts and other entities, and operates the Lake Conroe Dam. Former General Manager Jake Houston announced his resignation from the authority in May. Ed Shackelford has been the acting general manager since June. The overview According to a news release, Spear will collabo- rate with the SJRA’s various operating divisions to oversee the development and implementation of the authority’s vision, mission and strategic goals.

He will also oversee capital improvement plans, external a“airs, leadership development and budgeting.
