Locals to convert downtown historic building into Irish bar

The bar will have a music stage and wrap-around tree bar around the heritage tree in front of the building. There will be 24 beer taps at each of the three bars as well. “We’re excited to be a part of this side of down- town,” Kyle said. What’s special about it? Kennedy’s Tavern will also be home to the Emerald Lounge—a traditional, upstairs speakeasy that will serve higher-end cocktails and Prohibi- tion-style drinks. “We’re [going to] put LED shamrocks on the win- dows, and when the shamrocks are on, the Emerald Lounge is open,” Kyle told Community Impact . Looking ahead Construction will begin in May. Kyle said they hope to open in October or November.

New Braunfels locals Kyle Kennedy, Lalita Kennedy and Joseph Collins will be converting The Voigt House—one of New Braunfels’ oldest historic buildings—into an Irish bar called Kennedy’s Tavern this fall. The project, located at 308 E. San Antonio St., is being engineered by Dillo Development Services. The architect on the project is ArtArch, and the general contractor on the project is Contractor Kyle. Digging deeper The Voigt House was recorded as a Texas Historic Landmark in 1973 and deeded to Herman Seele. Seele was the rst schoolmaster of Texas that lived in one part of the home, Kyle said. Kennedy’s Tavern will serve specialty drinks, wine, beer, Irish coees and espresso martinis. Customers will also be able to purchase liquor lockers—a place where they can store their liquor. Meadows at Clear Springs broke ground in September 2023. General Sales Manager Haley Henderson said homes range from 1,204-2,601 square feet and oer three to ve bedrooms.
