After Brazoria County temporarily paused partnering with cities for road rebuilds, Pearland ocials are thinking about how the city will fund its road rebuilds. The full story In January, Pearland Mayor Kevin Cole called on Pearland City Council to put together a plan to address sidewalk and street maintenance. The request comes after roads in Brazoria County have deteriorated following droughts over the past couple of years, causing ocials to focus on paving roads instead of rebuilding them. As a result, the city is looking at how to fund future projects that need substantial work. The cost The city can pull about $1.5 million from local municipal utility districts, or MUDs, within the city, Cole said. It also has about $26 million from its 2023 bond for streets, bridges and sidewalks.
