Local primary elections slated for county, state races
Early voting begins Feb. 17 for March 3 primary races in Texas, including several county and state contests in The Woodlands area. The full story Montgomery County Republican primaries that will see contested elections in The Woodlands area include county judge, Precinct 2 commissioner and Precinct 3 justice of the peace, according to ling information. James Graf is the sole Democratic candidate for Montgomery County judge and will face the Republican primary winner this November. Meanwhile, several Montgomery County Republican incumbents in countywide o ces are uncontested in the primary for Precinct 4 commissioner, district clerk, county clerk and county treasurer. Here are the candidates in several contested races in The Woodlands area in Montgomery County on the Republican primary ballots:
• County judge: Mark Keough (incumbent), Wayne Mack • County commissioner, Precinct 2: Bob Harvey, Charlie Riley (incumbent) • Justice of the peace, Precinct 3: Brittany Gable- Hale, Jay Mac Sanders (incumbent) What else? Brad Bailey, the current chair of The Woodlands Township board of directors, is the sole Republican primary candidate for state House District 15 and Moniqua’ S. Scott is the sole Democratic primary candidate, leaving both races uncontested on March 3. Tiany Nelson stepped down from a Conroe ISD board of trustees seat in December to run in the Republican primary for State Board of Education, District 6. She will face Barbara Denson in that race. 2 to ll the state Senate District 4 seat formerly occupied by Brandon Creighton, who resigned to lead the Texas Tech University System. Filing for that race is open through March 3, according to a proclamation by Gov. Greg Abbott. The winner will ll the seat until it expires in January 2027.
