The Texas Department of Transportation is currently liaising on a project to widen FM 1128 from Bailey Road to Broadway Street, which could include shared-use paths or sidewalks, Cole said. He said the city likely would not invest in adding sidewalks there that TxDOT could later remove for the widening project.
Thirty years after Pearland adopted a sidewalk policy requiring developers to build sidewalks at the time of development, the city is thinking about how to fill the gaps in between. Older sections of FM 518 were built before the sidewalk rule existed, and undeveloped areas along the corridor still have no sidewalks, Pearland Communications Director Joshua Lee said at the city’s Nov. 26 Talk of the Town.
