What happened Pearland City Council voted unanimously at its Nov. 10 meeting to award a $2.1 million design contract to Pearland-based engineering consultant Freese & Nichols. The firm will monitor flows, inspect lines, smoke test and assess manholes across the two basins before preparing rehabilitation plans and bidding trenchless repairs, including pipe lining, grouting and manhole sealing, according to city documents.
Pearland TIRZ No. 2 to undergo $34M for upgrades Land in Pearland near Shadow Creek Ranch will undergo $34 million in improvements, including land acquisition and road improvements following Pearland City Council’s approval at its Nov. 17 meet- ing of an amendment to Pearland’s Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone No. 2, or TIRZ, financing plan. The details The TIRZ projects will include: • Acquisition of 50 acres of land • Sportsplex expansion and trail improvements • Park land rededication • Broadway Street expansions The 4,000-acre TIRZ was created in 1998 to unify development activities toward a master-planned approach for Shadow Creek Ranch, Community Impact previously reported.
According to city documents, the projects will have the following timeline: • December 2026: land acquisition • July 2027: trail improvement • September 2028: parks design, improvements and bridge replacement
