$39M approved for ABIA expansion The Austin-Bergstrom International Airport received $39.51 million in federal funding for modernizing and expanding the airport, per a Feb. 14 announcement. The details The design of a new 20-gate concourse— the area in which travelers pass through the airport—connected to the Barbara Jordan Terminal by an underground tunnel received $14.25 million of the federal funding Feb. 14. Another project the funding will support, estimated at $25.26 million, is the infill of the ticketing-level atrium in the Barbara Jordan Terminal. This will add about 13,000 square feet and accommodate passengers traveling through. Construction is expected to begin this year.

Hamilton Pool Road widening continues
widening the northbound section of Hamilton Pool Road from Vail Divide to Hwy. 71. Work is being done on small pockets along the southbound section as well, according to TxDOT. Project officials anticipate finalization of paving this summer, followed by striping in the fall. Drivers can expect various night lane closures throughout the remainder of the project.
