BUILDING Under Propositions A and B, the city included a list of potential projects. Projects are recommendations and not guaranteed. Proposition A would provide fund- ing for the city’s roadway infrastruc- ture, trac signals, and bike and pedestrian improvements. Projects could include Lakeline Boulevard ice damage repair, expansion of Toro Grande from Whitestone Boulevard to New Hope Drive, and resurfacing of major and neighborhood roads. “When you drive in Austin, you can tell they did not make that user- friendly,” task force member Tony Moline said. “I think that transpor- tation will always be one of the most important things, simply because that’s how we all get around.” If voters approve Proposition B, funding would be allocated to expand or improve facilities, parks and trails. Projects include completing the nal phase of Lakeline Park, remodeling and expanding Veterans Park Pool, and more. Multiple residents of Cedar Park expressed during the public comment phase how signicant proposed parks and recreation projects would be to the community. Most of the feedback was conducive to mobility for pedes- trians and cyclists. “Attempts at wheelchair travel is a joke at best, and it’s nearly impossi- ble to leave my neighborhood,” Cedar Park homeowner Deidra Black said in city documents. “More public trans- port and better, more accessible side- walks and bike paths would reduce trac and make life here much more pleasant.” Proposition C would provide fund- ing for the construction of a training facility for re, police and emergency management, which would be located on Cedar Park land. Public safety training for rst responders is currently held at various locations in Cedar Park as well as outside city

limits, and there is not a dedicated emergency operations center to use during emergencies, according to city ocials. Proposition C would allow the Cedar Park police, re and emer- gency management departments to train in one location and house emer- gency operations. The projects are only proposed, and the bond is projected to be enough to cover all of them. This is only contin- gent on nal construction costs, how- ever, according to task force member Patrick Walz. “The bond at the intended rate is enough money for the projects, but if
construction bids come in high, then there might not be enough money for all of them,” he said. The 2022 bond is not expected to cause an increased tax rate for Cedar Park residents. According to the city, its 20-year debt model keeps tax rates stable and interest costs reduced due to paying o debt in advance. This puts the city in the position to issue the bond package without aecting the tax rate.
