Montgomery ISD OKs $65.3M for CTE, ag centers Montgomery ISD trustees approved the maxi- mum cost of $65.3 million for the construction of the district’s career and technical education, and agricultural science centers on Jan. 23. The overview The costs include about $46.2 million for the CTE center, $15.8 million for the ag center and $3.3 million in project alternates, according to Jan. 23 meeting materials. Chief Operations Officer Kris Lynn said the centers will include: • A bistro operated by culinary students • An engineering and robotics lab • An animal show arena with livestock pens • An animal science classroom and lab The centers are part of MISD’s $326.9 million bond approved in 2022 and will cost $80 million in total, including furniture and other expenses.
MISD picks calendar with later start date Montgomery ISD’s board of trustees selected a calendar for the 2024-25 school year with a later start date than in the 2023- 24 school year, which began Aug. 10. In a nutshell MISD trustees unanimously approved the district’s recommended instructional calendar, Option A, on Jan. 23. District staff said Option A was preferred by the MISD community in a survey that garnered about 2,600 votes. According to MISD staff, the approved calendar will include: • A start date of Aug. 15 • An end date of May 23, 2025 • A student holiday on Election Day, Nov. 5, to allow students of age to vote

May 2022: MISD voters approve 2022 bond, including funds for CTE and ag centers March 2023: Site location along Lone Star Parkway—between Buffalo Springs and Plez Morgan Drive—is announced October 2023: Renderings for centers debut at board meeting November 2023: Trustees approve maximum price of $4.27 million for initial work July 2025: Centers are expected to be completed
