New traffic signal activates at Coit Road intersection in Frisco

A new traffic signal is operating at a north Frisco intersection. The gist Work to install and activate a traffic signal at Coit Road and Hardy Drive has finished, accord- ing to a Sept. 3 city news release. Drivers in the area are urged to use caution at the intersection as people adjust to the change, which included removing nearby stop signs, according to the release. Installing the signal cost $250,000 funded by the city, according to the city’s capital improvement project dashboard.

Anything else? The new signal is just south of another city project that includes adding a signal at Coit Road and Prestwick Hollow Drive, according to the project dashboard. Designs for that project should finish before the end of 2024 with construction ending in late 2025.

Detours added to Main Street for Fourth Street Plaza construction

Ongoing work to redevelop The Rail District has closed additional side streets in Frisco. Reconstruction on Main Street was extended to North County Road ahead of construction on Fourth Street Plaza, according to a Sept. 16 Frisco news release. The big picture The construction has caused traffic to shift. Eastbound traffic was shifted

to the north side of the median from First Street to North County Road where traffic shifts back to the south side. That system will remain until the next traffic switch in a few months. The work closed multiple roads south of Main Street, including Sixth Street and Seventh Street. A portion of Third Street between Elm Street and Half Main Street also closed, according to the release.
