The board of trustees made the decision to name the school after a geographical feature in the region. Trustee Monica Ryan suggested that Cibolo Creek Middle School be the name for the new school due to residents in the district that live along Cibolo Creek being the most likely to attend the new school based on district feeder patterns. The name of the new school was approved unanimously. The school will be located adjacent to Wortham Oaks Elementary School and is expected to be completed by the start of the 2025-26 school year.
