Construction begins on Lone Star College- Magnolia Center campus On June 27, Lone Star College System hosted a groundbreaking for the long-awaited Magnolia Center, which is slated to welcome students in the spring of 2026. How we got here Planning for the Magnolia Center—which will be a satellite campus for LSC£Montgomery—has been ongoing since 2014, and the project’s design was completed in late 2022, as previously reported by Community Impact . The project is expected to cost about $34 million and is part of LSCS’s $485 million bond, which was approved by voters in 2014. TISD to x $1M in vandalism damage Tomball ISD leaders said they are hoping to recoup up to $1 million for repairs at Creekside Park Junior High School after van- dals left extensive damage to the property. What’s happening? On June 18, TISD’s board of trustees approved the maximum price of $1 million in work to x CPJHS. On June 17, Superin- tendent Martha Salazar-Zamora said the vandalism left about $333,000 in water damage and between $347,000-$518,000 in ruined sheetrock. The repairs will only replace damaged materials, not upgrade features of the school, Salazar-Zamora said. The work was expected to be completed before the 2024-25 school year began Aug. 13. Ocials did not specify how the costs could be recouped.

The period for candidates to le to run for positions on the Conroe ISD board of trustees opened July 20 for the November ballot. What you need to know The CISD board will have four four-year positions available on the Nov. 5 ballot for positions 4, 5, 6 and 7. Candidates will have until Aug. 19 to le for candidacy or until Aug. 23 if an individ- ual chooses to run as a write-in candidate. What else? Tomball ISD also has three seats available in November, for positions 5, 6 and 7. TISD serves Creekside Park in The Woodlands.

Conroe ISD Superintendent Curtis Null, accom- panied by other school ocials, representatives of the Evergreen community and members of the Lake Conroe/Conroe Chamber of Commerce, broke ground June 13 for a new school located near the intersection of Hwy. 242 and FM 1314. What we know The new K-6 elementary school, Campbell Elementary, is set to open for the 2025-26 school year in the Caney Creek and Oak Ridge high school feeder zones. The school is named for Mittie J. Campbell, who was chosen as the rst Black woman to serve as a principal in CISD in 1917, according to a district news release. Campbell Elementary will cost $59 million to build and is one of eight new schools funded

through a $1.8 billion bond referendum passed last November, according to a news release.
