to accept the proposed tax rate and hold a VATRE in November to oficially adopt the new tax rate. The VATRE will impact the maintenance and operations, or M&O, portion of the district’s tax rate. Voters previously turned down a VATRE in November 2021. If approved, the adopted tax rate stands. If the measure fails, the board will amend the tax rate and adjust projected revenue for the 2022-23 school year, resulting in roughly $6.9 million less in state and local taxes. The district would likely work toward another VATRE for Novem- ber 2023, depending on state action The $367.6 million bond package is broken into six sections, repre- sented as Propositions CH on the ballot. Voters may approve one, some, all or none of them. Land said the bond will not increase the dis- trict’s proposed tax rate of $1.2646 for the 2022-23 iscal year and will not affect property taxes. in the 2023 legislative session regarding basic allotment per student to districts.

Proposition C would allocate $190.28 million to campus improve- ments and security, including $68.8 million for HVAC and mechanical needs, $56.8 million for capital improvements, $30 million for elementary school additions and renovations, and more.
Proposition D would allocate $54 million for technology and devices, while Proposition E would allot $3 million to performing arts and sound system upgrades. Propo- sition F would allocate $400,000 to improvements for The Pield technology and new scoreboards for
Hendrickson High School. Proposition G includes $76 mil- lion for the creation of a new career and technical education center, and Proposition H would give the dis- trict $43.92 million to purchase land for and build affordable housing for teachers.
