Conroe ISD names new chief nancial o cer During a Feb. 20 board meeting, the Conroe ISD board of trustees appointed a new chief nancial ocer and approved its District of Innovation plan. Two-minute impact CISD board members approved the appoint- ment of Karen Garza as the new chief nancial ocer for the district. Garza has served as director of nance at CISD for 18 years. “She knows [our department] from the entry level, all the way to the top,” Superintendent Curtis Null said. “I don’t believe there is anyone in the state that understands the school funding formula better than Garza.” She will start at the beginning of the 2024-25 school year following the retirement of current CFO Darrin Rice at the end of the summer. Tomball ISD releases updated maps Tomball ISD updated its elementary school boundary maps to “alleviate confu- sion” about rezoning, according to a Feb. 28 email. No changes are planned in 2024-26 in The Woodlands elementary schools.

The board also approved the District of Innova- tion plan on Feb. 20, which allows it to exercise exibilities to start date, class size and some other policies. Superintendent Curtis Null said some of the new provisions, such as changes to teacher hiring contracts, will go into eect immediately, while others will start with the new plan in 2026.
