Primary elections yield runo, new commissioner
Steve Toth wins District 15 primary Steve Toth has won the Republican primary for Texas House District 15, and no Democratic challenger led in the March primary to face him in the November election. Toth received 15,960 votes in the March 5 election, or 65.59% of the vote. Challenger Skeeter Hubert, who serves on the Conroe ISD board of trustees, received 8,372 votes, or 34.41% of the vote. Quote of note “We’re going to work really hard next session,” Toth said, noting that priorities include passing a Secure Classroom Act and the Classroom Teachers’ Bill of Rights, which he said would be a companion bill to state Sen. Brandon Creighton’s Senate bill.
Montgomery County Republican primary elections held March 5 resulted in the defeat of the incumbent for Precinct 3 commissioner and a runo race for sheri on May 28. The results are in Ritch Wheeler received a majority of votes for Precinct 3 commissioner, defeating incumbent James Noack in unocial election day results. Wheeler received 50.79% of the vote, while Noack received 49.21% of the vote. No Democrats led in the primary race, meaning the Republican candidate will be unopposed by a Democrat in November. The breakdown With all election day precincts reporting, incumbent Rand Henderson received just shy of the 50% of the vote needed to declare victory in the Republican primary for Montgomery County sheri, meaning the race will go to a runo with runner-up Wesley Doolittle on May 28.
