Council to discuss veterans park plans Shenandoah City Council tabled discus- sion of a veterans park and monument at its Feb. 28 meeting to allow for more feedback on the project. The council was scheduled to consider awarding a $678,819 contract for the con- struction of a veterans monument at Vision Park at 149 Pine Forest Drive. What else? City Council also discussed names for the park, with an initial suggestion of Shenan- doah Veterans Park. Council member Ron Raymaker suggested The Veterans Memorial at Vision Park, and City Administrator Kathie Reyer said it has also been referred to as the Veterans Monument.

$400K right-of-way purchase to aid intersection expansion Shenandoah City Council voted at its Feb. 14 meeting to approve the purchase of over $400,000 in right-of-way acquisitions to expand the I-45 and Research Forest Drive intersection. Two-minute impact The right-of-way acquisition follows the submis- sion of plans to the Texas Department of Transpor- tation for expansion of the I-45 and Research Forest/ Tamina Road intersection in Shenandoah to add additional lanes. right-of-way acquisition. However, the cost of funding increased due to agreement changes and the need for utility line relocations in the right of way, city o¥cials said. What’s next Montgomery County will oversee construction of the intersection widening at Research Forest Drive and Tamina Road. While the city paid for right-of-way acquisition, the city does expect to receive reimbursement from the county for the purchase, according to information shared at the meeting.
