Committee proposes 2 GCISD schools to close A committee of parents and district ocials recommended closing Dove Elementary School and Bransford Elementary School to combat a $10 million state funding loss, according to a report at a Nov. 17 Grapevine-Colleyville ISD trustee meeting. Trustees did not take action or approve the recommendation.

Colleyville’s $35 gift card, business bingo programs underway A second round of $35 gift cards from Colleyville’s gift card program were mailed to residents’ homes Dec. 12, said Chelsea Rose, Colleyville’s community engagement and economic development director. The details The gift cards can be used at participating Colleyville businesses, which are reim- bursed by the city. Residents can receive up to two additional $35 gift cards by playing the city’s business bingo game. Those who shop ve businesses in a row on the card will receive one gift card. Any- one who shops at all 25 businesses on the card will get two gift cards. More informa- tion can be found on Colleyville’s website.

What you need to know The Education Master Planning Committee recommended consolidating Dove with Cannon Elementary School and Silver Lake Elementary School, along with consolidating Bransford with O.C. Taylor Elementary School and Colleyville Elementary School. Some students from Colleyville and O.C. Taylor elementary schools could also be relocated to Glenhope and Heritage elementary schools. As of press time, trustees were set to vote on the recommendation at the Dec. 10 meeting.

Southlake advances multi-million dollar park update

and Zoysia Palisades with a 15-year total cost of $1.63 million. The cost for articial turf for the same 15-year span is $1.05 million, according to the presentation. The initial project cost for turf is $577,920, while grass cost is $97,000 to start. The design phase of the project, which is expected to cost between $13 million and $34 million, is 30% complete.

During the Nov. 18 Southlake City Council meeting, Director of Community Services David Miller presented installing turf or real grass for the renovation project of the Town Hall Plaza. The collective decision of the council was to go with natural grass on the project. The breakdown The natural grass would be a mix of Bermuda
