9 Texas Family Fitness A Planet Fitness franchisee based in Austin, Excel Fitness, has acquired 11 Texas Family Fitness locations across the Dallas-Fort Worth area, including one in southern Plano, according to a Dec. 17 news release. The location has since closed and members will be transferred to the nearest Planet Fitness location, all of which are less than five miles away, per the release. • Closed Dec. 17 • 910 W. 12 Party City The company announced Dec. 21 in a news release that it has filed for bankruptcy. The release states that the company “plans to commence a wind down of its retail and wholesale operations and going out of business sales at its approximately 700 stores nationwide.” Stores are expected to close in February, while supplies last. • 1701 Preston Road, Plano • www.partycity.com 13 The Feathered Nest The store closed Dec. 29, and announced on a company social media page they plan to relocate. The business has not said where or when the boutique will reopen. The boutique sells women’s clothing and accessories. Queenie Feige-Hider bought The Feathered Nest in downtown Plano in 2019. 14 Honeybird Sandwiches and Donuts The menu features gourmet donuts like strawberry shortcake, cookie butter and lemon poppyseed.
