Land owners seek highway zoning for ‘high-end’ project FRISCO A request to rezone a 75.8-acre property for what the owner refers to as “a high-end- type development” located o the Dallas North Tollway was passed 4-0 July 26 by the Planning and Zoning Commission. The plot of land is zoned for agricultural use. The applicant requested to rezone the area to highway zoning, which permits a mixture of land uses, such as oce and retail, and is for properties specically located o US 380 or SH 121, according to the zoning ordinance. The highway district also applies to properties o the Dallas North Tollway, according to Planning and Zoning Manager Jonathan Hubbard. Commissioners pointed out that the zoning allows for a broad list of land uses and showed concerns for

FRISCO Deputy City Manager Ron Patterson has submitted his letter of resignation after more than 21 years with the city, according to a news release. Patterson’s letter was submitted July 5, the release stated. Patterson has served in a variety of roles in Frisco, starting as the assistant city manager in 1993. He left Frisco for jobs in Kerrville and Forney, Texas, before returning to Frisco in 2007. “It has been my distinct pleasure and privilege to serve the citizens of Frisco,” Patterson said in the release. Jim Newman, a partner for the property, shared the reason for the request is to allow for a variety of uses. Newman wants to have oces, retail, multiple restau- rants and other structures on the property, he said. The request will be voted on by Frisco City Council for nal approval at an upcoming meeting.
