STAAR data: Students at or above state average Round Rock ISD students performed at or above state average in most subjects in the spring 2023 administration of the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness, according to results released Aug. 16. District preparing students for post-grad Natalie Nichols, Round Rock ISD’s senior chief of schools and innovation, shared new instructional priorities Aug. 17 for the 2023-24 school year, with the intent to improve stu- dents’ college, career and military readiness. What’s happening Nichols said the district is working to instill a stronger sense of belonging in students and target early literacy as well as advanced math to enhance their confidence in their ability to succeed academically. What they’re saying “Being college ready simply represents the idea that you have a certain level of skill in math, reading and communication ... you can go into any area that you choose and be successful,” Nichols said.
STAAR struggles There are two subjects in which RRISD students performed below state averages this spring. Math and Science classes taught in Spanish were some of the lowest performing areas.
