Why are you running for elec- tion to the MISD board?

What do you believe is a trust- ee’s most important role?

What is the biggest challenge facing MISD?

JAY MICHALS

I currently have ve children attending four [MISD] schools. Parental involvement and representation at the board level is para- mount in district initiatives. Few, if any, in the district cover this rst hand better than my family currently does.

As a board member, it is our duty [to] ensure we are providing the best possible education for the students of our district while maintaining excellent scal responsi- bility to the taxpayers who fund us. ... Our job is to continue this.

Growth. Trying to optimize the growth model for the correct number of schools, teachers, buses, campuses, and other myriad items. ... Getting the forecast com- pletely correct is impossible, ... but the only incorrect action is no action.

Occupation: Head of compliance Experience: MISD trust- ee; MISD committees; risk and PR manager; former asset optimizer

Occupation: Information technology director Experience: Worked in K-12 education, school volunteer ROBIN STONELOFTIN

I am running for election to the Magnolia ISD board of trustees because I believe in the strong foundation that MISD has created for students, love the MISD community, and want to serve our exceptional students and sta. With my experience ... as a parent, vol- unteer and employee, I am uniquely qualied.

The most important role of a school board member is listening to sta and students so that they can be a voice for those they serve. It is crucial that school board mem- bers build trust and a culture of kindness, respect and excellence.

Sta retention, lack of funding, security (physical and data), learning loss, and dis- cipline issues are some of school district’s biggest challenges.
