Proposed Skybox data center moves forward Another data center may soon take shape in Round Rock, after a city commission gave initial approval for a new facility. What you need to know The city of Round Rock’s Planning and Zoning Commission gave preliminary approval for a proposed Skybox data center near East Old Settlers Boulevard during a Nov. 5 meeting. Skybox is in the process of building data centers in nearby Hutto, Pflugerville and Taylor. The details The proposal for the data center, which would be located on 29.69 acres near the junction of East Old Settlers Boulevard and Kiphen Road, shows that the property itself and others it is adjacent to are zoned for industrial use. Dutch chip supplier to open in Hutto Co-Op Global semiconductor equipment maker ASML will become the first office tenant in office space at The Hutto Co-Op District, marking another addition to Central Texas’ fast-growing tech and manufacturing region. The overview MA Partners, the developer behind The Hutto Co-Op, announced that ASML will lease more than 32,000 square feet of office space and about 2,100 square feet of rooftop terrace in a new four-story building, according to a news release. ASML, based in the Netherlands, makes the high-tech machines, software and services that help companies like Samsung and Intel produce computer chips. Its technology uses light to print small patterns on silicon, a process known as lithography.

to a planned unit development to allow for a data center, ultimately dividing it into three sections with different uses to establish what is permitted on different parts of the site, such as a data center, substation and open space. The parcel that would be designated as open space abuts an existing neighborhood and would require a 25-foot-wide landscape buffer with a wall, city documents show. The center would use a closed-loop cooling system to reduce water use. This type of system is consistent with other data centers in the city.
