Roads in East McKinney are undergoing infrastructure improvements prior to the opening of the new McKinney City Hall. The project targets East Virginia Street and Throckmorton Street. Improvements that will be implemented as part of the project focus on the roadways, drainage systems, utilities, pedestrian areas and lighting. The project was recommended in a street and trac study conducted in preparation for the new city hall, Capital Improvements Program Manager Blake Sills said. Construction commenced on March 11 and is scheduled for completion in spring 2025. The $13 million project is funded entirely by the city of McKinney. The roadway improvements will also include improved sidewalks. “These things enhance our ability to use and enjoy our neighborhoods without sacricing safety,” Beller said.
