Parker + Scott oers sustainable shopping With sustainability and community at the fore- front of their minds, Jess and Ian Haisley opened general store Parker + Scott in July 2022. The inspiration On a trip to Brighton, England, the Haisleys vis- ited a home and kitchenware store called Utility. Ian Haisley said they liked how the store’s items were “made in a way they used to be,” meaning the items were functional but beautiful in their simplicity. They took from those values and planned to build something similar in Austin. Named after the Haisleys’ two boys, Parker + Scott is stocked with products that are recyclable, made from recycled materials or compostable. Every product in the store, from apothecary to household items, comes from local and/or women-owned brands.
