EDUCATION BRIEFS

News from Frisco ISD

DISTRICT HIGHLIGHT FRISCO ISD For the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic began, the Texas Education Agency released its accountability ratings for Texas school districts and campuses Aug. 15. Texas schools are rated on a A-F scale. This year, schools that received a rating below a C were considered “not rated,” in alignment with Senate Bill 1365, which was passed in 2021. Districts and campuses with scores of 90-100 received an A, followed by 80-89 for a B and 70-79 for a C. Unrated schools scored below a 70. Frisco ISD is the largest school district in North Texas to receive an A rating, and all campuses received either an A or B as their overall rating, according to a district news release. “While we are proud of all that our students and teachers have accomplished, it’s impossible to summarize their success in a letter grade,” Superintendent Mike Waldrip said in a statement. FRISCO ISD Free health care is now offered for district employees at a new clinic. “The biggest resource in our mis- sion to serve students is our staff, and it is so important for us to focus on keeping our staff healthy,” Frisco ISD Deputy Superintendent Todd Fouche said. “This facility will allow them to get the health care they need.” A ribbon cutting was held Aug. 4 at 6950 Stadium Lane, Frisco. Dallas Physician Medical Services for Children will operate the clinic. It will provide free clinical services including treatments for congestion, nausea, infections and more.

have remained strong, leading to a 14.7% increase in assessed property values from 2021 to 2022. FISD trustees adopted a total tax rate of $1.2129 per $100 valu- ation Aug. 8. This will still raise more taxes for its operations than last year’s tax rate due to growth in property values, according to meeting documents.

FRISCO ISD The district decreased its tax rate by about $0.05 for the upcoming fiscal year, marking the lowest rate at least since the 2006-07 fiscal year. In Texas, a school district’s property tax rate is tied to property values. Property values within Frisco ISD boundaries
