Ocials from Plano and DART will continue to have conversations moving forward about the city’s needs, Muns said. “There’s some scars from this, and we hope that that doesn’t aect the service and safety and cleanliness and those kinds of things in the system,” he said. “We are still paying for this service.”
DART is also considering service cuts in light of the new Silver Line commuter rail. Construction on the 26-mile rail is expected to nish this fall. The rail will run between Plano and Dallas Fort Worth International Airport and traverse seven cities in total. The Silver Line is expected to open for revenue service ahead of schedule and funding is needed to cover an additional four months of operating costs, according to DART. DART ocials are expecting to reserve $29.8 million for Silver Line operations instead of the $18.3 million assumed in last year’s nancial plan. DART ocials have been testing the Silver Line on the complete track since May. During testing service is simulated, meaning trains stop at every station to ensure gate timing is correct and ash- ing lights and horns are working correctly. Once the Silver Line opens, trains are expected to run from 4 a.m.-12:30 a.m. with trains traveling both directions every 30 minutes during peak
