Hutto council approves Hwy. 79 bridge project Hutto City Council approved Feb. 15 the FM 3349 Bridge Beautication Project, furthering road improvement plans for this route. Though not included in the scal 2023-24 budget, city sta identied an additional $41,000 for the project at the FM 3349 and Hwy. 79 intersection “due to actual investment earning being higher than budgeted,” according to city documents. The phrase “Welcome to Hutto” will be engraved on the overpass for travelers heading in the westbound direction coming from Taylor, while “Thank you for visiting Hutto” will be displayed on the eastbound side of the bridge. Veteran nancial assistance expands Changes to grant funding criteria have expanded access to nancial assistance for veterans in Williamson County. What you need to know Williamson County received $210,000 in grant funding from the Texas Veterans Commission in July, providing emergency nancial assistance for veterans in William- son County. The updates now include eligibility for veterans receiving disability benets, spouses, surviving spouses and dependents. The money will provide $1,000 emergency assistance to qualifying applicants for rent, mortgage or utility payments. An additional option for nancial assistance includes $1,000 toward burial services.

road improvements. The project includes widening the existing two- lane FM 3349 to four lanes with a bridge over Hwy. 79 and the Union Pacic Railroad track. WilCo’s portion of road improvements is included in the county’s Long-Range Transpor- tation Plan. Funding will come from both 2019 voter-approved road bonds and the Texas Depart- ment of Transportation. Construction began in 2022 and is expected to be complete by the summer of 2025.
