May 7 ballot set for Colleyville

Newbuilding, drive-thruOK’d GRAPEVINE City Council unanimously voted to allow outdoor dining and a drive-thru at Grapevine Station North during a Feb. 15 meeting. The approved conditional-use permit allows the developer to construct a new 5,230-square-foot multitenant building, according to a city memo. According to a Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation ling, the $800,000 construction on the new building has a completion date of Sept. 15. Tropical Smoothie Cafe will be the tenant with the drive- thru, according to a representative for the developer.

GRAPEVINE, COLLEYVILLE & SOUTHLAKE The May 7 gen- eral elections for Grapevine and Southlake city councils have been canceled as none of the races was contested. Colleyville voters will choose a new mayor and two new City Council members. In Grapevine, incumbents Leon Leal in Place 3 and Mayor Pro Tem Darlene Freed in Place 4 have earned another term on City Council after no one led to run against them. Grape- vine City Council voted at its March 1 meeting to cancel the election. In Southlake, Place 4 Council Mem- ber Ronell Smith and Place 5 Council Member Amy Torres-Lepp drew no opposition in their re-election bids and will each serve another term. Place 3 Council Member Chad Pat- ton, who was rst elected in 2016, reached the term limit. Attorney Shawn McCaskill was the only one to le for his seat. Southlake City Council voted at its March 1 meeting to cancel the election and declare

The Grapevine and Southlake winners will be sworn in May 17. In Colleyville, Mayor Pro Tem Bobby Lindamood and former Mayor David Kelly are running for mayor. Lindamood has been on council for six years. Kelly served as mayor from 2005-16. One will replace Mayor Richard Newton, who reached the term limit. Colleyville City Council will see two new members. Homemaker Brandi Elder will face technology executive Amyn Gilani for Place 1. Zac Bunn, who works as a vice pres- ident of research, will face George Bond, who works in real estate, for Place 2.
