Global water treatment company Ovivo broke ground on its 110,000-square-foot manufacturing plant in Hutto on March 9. Located in Hutto’s Innovation Business Park, Ovivo will use the plant mainly to produce ceramic membranes for ltering water and wastewater. “We are bringing membrane manufacturing into America. Previously, we had to buy membranes from places like Japan, Germany and Denmark, but now our technology will be home-grown and homemade,” Ovivo representative Mike Snodgrass said at the groundbreaking. As part of an agreement brokered with the Hutto Economic Development Corp. and approved in August, Ovivo is required to invest $25 million in the site by the end of 2024 and create 96 full-time jobs by the end of 2027.

Skybox Datacenters, a national data center development rm headquartered in Dallas, plans to build a new 141,000-square-foot data center in P ugerville. P ugerville City Council approved an eco- nomic development performance agreement between the P ugerville Community Develop- ment Corp. and Skybox during a March 8 regular meeting. Per the agreement, the PCDC will provide Skybox an expansion grant of up to $1.58 million over a 10-year period. To qualify, Skybox must construct a facility prior to Jan. 1, 2024, secure at least one tenant and certify a minimum investment of $50 million. The release states Skybox owners and occu- pants intend to invest up to $548 million in P ugerville and bring up to 10 full-time jobs to the city. “Skybox is excited to launch our newest data center facility in P ugerville, which o ers innovative, sustainable and adaptable turn-key and powered shell solutions that will bene t our enterprise and hyperscale customers in Austin and across the country,” Skybox CEO Rob Morris said in the release. Construction on the facility, located at the northeast corner of New Meister Lane and Meister Lane, is expected to begin by the end of the year.

Ovivo is one of several technology-focused companies coming to Innovation Business Park. Others on the way include BryComm and Kval, which broke ground on its facility in August. “The Hutto EDC is all about advancing growth as well as opportunity, which is exactly what we see in Ovivo,” EDC Treasurer Shawn Lucas said.
