Kuma Rama brings anime-themed cafe and shop to life in Spring Balancing spreadsheets while serving boba at their anime-themed cafe, Gaby and Bill Clemons turned their lifelong love of anime into a busi- ness with Kuma Rama on Oct. 5, 2024. While continuing their accounting careers, the couple serves boba drinks and anime-themed treats alongside shelves of anime collectibles, cosplay items and treasures that celebrate the vibrant world they’ve loved since childhood. What’s special about it? The multiconcept business brings a touch of the couple’s favorite fandoms to life. Kuma Rama immerses fans in Japanese pop culture while oering a cafe with various coee and boba tea options, as well as a space where anime fans can come together and binge-watch anime on their screens while playing board games. Originally from Venezuela, Gaby Clemons said what she enjoys most about anime is the variety of genres available. “I watched my rst anime when I was probably 6 years old. I watch other things. But in between all the shows...we inevitably go back to anime,” Gaby Clemons said. “A lot of them really have in-depth characters and really deep stories that are really touching.” What else? In addition to its services, Kuma Rama often hosts events such as game nights, anime watch parties and comedy shows. Most recently, the cafe added beer and wine, Gaby Clemons said. On Dec. 6, the anime shop will host Kira Buckland, an American voice actress who has provided voices for English-dubbed Japanese anime. Kuma Rama also supports other small local businesses and local artists by allowing them to sell their products at their store and cafe. Gaby Clemons said the family-friendly cafe brings the community together with a diverse clientele. “We have gotten close, and not just us with our customers, but between [our customers], like friendships have been made, and that’s one thing that I did not expect but I am so happy about,” Gaby Clemons said. “And that’s like one thing that I’ve heard a lot, that we’ve really created our community.”
