SAN MARCOS CISD
HAYS CISD
San Marcos CISD is the smaller of the two school districts in the San Marcos, Buda and Kyle area with fewer than 9,000 students across 11 campuses. SMCISD voters also approved its recent $166.19 million bond for districtwide improvements in May.
Hays CISD encompasses Buda and Kyle and has a much larger student body than SMCISD with almost 24,000 students projected for the upcoming school year. Around 20% of the students in HCISD are English learners, and around 14% are special education students, which is similar to or greater than the statewide average.
