WHAT IS A VOTER-APPROVAL TAX RATE ELECTION?
If a school district adopts a maintenance & operations (M&O) tax rate that exceeds the maximum amount allowed by the state, a Voter-Approval Tax Rate Election (VATRE) must be held to seek voter approval. This year’s tax rate is the lowest in at least 30 years.
