DISTRICT HIGHLIGHTS ROUND ROCK ISD During its annual gala April 23, the RRISD Partners in Education Foundation raised more than $334,000 in donations. The district announced May 13 the funds will largely go to help boost programs, including the Round Rock ISD Fine Arts Department, as well as a follow- up of the Police Department Behavioral Therapy Puppies and other programs offered by the district. Round Rock ISD explores additional staff pay options ROUND ROCK ISD As the district grapples with employee retention and rising costs of living, among other issues, the Round Rock ISD 2022-23 proposed budget presented shows consideration for additional employee resources. District staff presented the proposed budget and its assumptions to the RRISD board during a May 19 meeting. Included are new options for addi- tional compensation such as a $1,200 housing allowance paid monthly in $100 installments; an additional $500 added to an already-planned retention bonus for district staff and $1,000 for teachers; $1,000 housing allowance for all district employees; and a longevity bonus. The additional incentives would be paid from the district’s fund balance, RRISD Chief Financial Officer Dennis

Covington told the board. RRISD Superintendent Hafedh Azaiez said the solutions were intended to reward teachers and other employees. “We want to keep our bright

teachers and recruit the best of the best, but we also want to stay ahead of our competitors,” Azaiez said. Trustees will take action on the proposed budget at an upcoming June meeting.
