The Oita Japan Summer Festival will be held at the Asian American Resource Center to celebrate Austin’s sister city of Oita, Japan. Hosted by the Austin-Oita Sister City Committee, the festival will feature a variety of Japanese food and drinks, music and dancing, kids activities, cultural education, and a silent auction including a pair of Japan Airlines tickets to Oita. 11 a.m. (doors), noon-4 p.m. (performances). SAFE Austin’s annual Touch a Truck event will be held at Q2 Stadium. Children are invited to touch, explore and climb on re trucks, ambulances, bulldozers and more with other activities such as face painting, arts and crafts, a petting zoo, and a bounce house. FEATURED EVENT SUPERHERO RUN Court-appointed special advocate organizations of Travis, Williamson, Bastrop and other Central Texas counties are hosting the 14th annual Superhero Run at Circuit of the Americas on Sept. 17. Along with the 5K race, the event will feature music, snacks, games, family- and pet-friendly activities, and a costume contest.
