Wine and FoodWeekmarks 15 years in TheWoodlands The 15th annual Wine and Food Week took place in The Wood- lands in mid-June, including both indoor and outdoor events that allowed attendees to try food and drink while enjoying entertain- ment and socializing at numerous places in The Woodlands, such as Market Street, the site of the annual Wine Walk. 1 Exhibitors at the Wine Rendezvous Grand Tasting and Chef Showcase on June 8 at The Woodlands Waterway Marriott Hotel and Convention Center included a display by Houston-based Balloon Decor. 2 Chefs prepare food samples at the Grand Tasting event held June 8 as part of Wine and Food Week. Dozens of local chefs prepared dishes ranging from ceviche to curry as well as a variety of wines. 3 The Wine Rendezvous Grand Tasting and Chef Showcase included more than 50 chefs and 500 wines for guests to sample, according to event organizers. The 15th annual event in The Woodlands benefits charities including the Montgomery County Food Bank and The Woodlands Arts Council. 4 The 15th annual Wine and Food Week in The Woodlands included the June 6 Wine Walk at Market Street, featuring open-air exhibitors offering samples of wine and food as well as demonstrations and crafts. 5 Costumed performers were among the entertainment at the Wine Walk at Market Street, which also included a live performance by the band Mango Punch.

Community updates The mayor of Oak Ridge North received a sendoff from community members upon his retirement at a City Council meeting on June 10. 1 From left: Gil Staley, CEO of The Woodlands Area Economic Development Partnership, presented a parting gift of a watercolor painting to outgoing Oak Ridge North Mayor Jim Kuykendall at the former mayor’s final Oak Ridge North City Council meeting. The newmayor, Paul Bond, was sworn in after the ceremony with Kuykendall. 2 The second annual Corks for a Cure benefit raised $27,000 for the Leukemia and Lymphona Society on May 9 at The Woodlands East Shore Clubhouse. The event is a project of The Woodlands-based The Blan- ton Bunch, a fundraising project for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
