FRISCO ISD More school resources ocers, or SROs, will be in the district this school year. FISD’s board of trustees approved agreements Sept. 12 with the cities of Frisco and Plano to provide school resource ocers for the 2022-23 school year. The district is also partnering with the city of McKinney for SRO ocers, with that contract expected to go to the board at a later date, FISD ocials said. The contract with Frisco provides 35 school resource ocers, and the contract with Plano provides two ocers, according to meeting documents. New this year is the increased police presence at elementary schools with roving ocers. “All they’re going to do is go

than nine years of service with Frisco, according to a city news release. He will be looking to “pursue new career opportunities,” the news release stated. Piland has more than 40 years of experience, per a news release. “I’d like to thank the city of Frisco for the opportunity to serve the com- munity,” Piland said in a statement. Assistant Fire Chief Lee Glover will step in as interim re chief, according to the news release. He has worked in the re department for more than 30 years and has served as an assistant chief since 2009. The city will begin searching for a new re chief, according to the news release. from elementary to elementary; they’re going to have conversations with sta; they’re going to have conversations with kids,” FISD Chief Operations Ocer Scott Warstler said during the meeting. Five total ocers will be added to FISD elementary schools, with three in Frisco and the other two in Plano and McKinney. Frisco and the school district split the cost of the city’s ocers. However, because FISD approached Plano and McKin- ney later in their budget cycles, the district will pay 100% of the cost for two of the new elementary school ocers in those cities this year, Warstler said. In the 2023-24 school year the district and the cities will split those costs.
