Liberty Hill council picks design for center of downtown roundabout The center of Liberty Hill’s recently opened roundabout will feature a large star surrounded by green turf and a sign that says “Downtown Liberty Hill” after City Council approved the design at its Jan. 24 meeting. Selecting a design feature moves the downtown roundabout project one step closer to full comple- tion, city ocials said. Mayor Liz Branigan submits resignation Liberty Hill City Council unanimously accepted the resignation of Mayor Liz Branigan at its Jan. 24 meeting. Branigan submitted her resignation Jan. 19 citing “medical and scheduling issues,” according to city documents. “I have not yet recovered strength to perform to my own expectations, but I feel that I have accomplished what I came here to do,” Branigan said at the meeting. What’s next? Branigan’s resignation is expected to go into eect March 1, and Mayor Pro Tem Crystal Mancilla will serve as mayor starting on that date. Council also called a special election May 4 to ll the vacancy. The remaining term for mayor will be May 4, 2024, to May 3, 2025.

Just before the roundabout opened, city ocials started discussing a design element for its center. Next steps Amsler said design specics, such as stone color options, will be brought back to council.
